About this Event
Walk, Shoot, Draw; A lunchtime workshop with artist Susan Olij
Join artist Susan Olij for a fun, chill lunchtime workshop — the perfect break to spark your curiosity and see the familiar in a totally new light.
We start outside. You'll walk the neighbourhood and photograph what catches your eye — signs, walls, light, shadows, the unexpected — all filtered through yellow.
Back at Overlap, you'll draw conclusions from your own images using simple tools: black ink, white paper, and a dash of yellow to finish. Bold, graphic, and entirely based on your own observation.
Along the way, a quick quiz on the colour yellow — its history, its meaning, its weight across cultures. And Susan will share how yellow shows up in her own painting practice.
This is a workshop about noticing. About what happens when you give your attention to one thing, and let it show you the city differently.
Optional: after the workshop, join Susan for a short artist walkthrough at Dentalis — five minutes away — where her paintings are currently on show.
Art supplies included. Suitable for adults of all levels — no art experience needed. Just bring your eyes.
