During New York Fashion Week, Step Beyond the Runway
Join us for a once-in-a-season Fashion Week experience that celebrates the legacy of Black fashion professionals while investing in the next generation of Black fashion entrepreneurs.
This is a fundraising experience that celebrates the rich legacy of Black fashion while raising critical support to provide aspiring and evolving Black fashion-preneurs with access to education, industry connections, mentorship, and career opportunities. Every step taken helps create pathways for the next generation of fashion innovators.

The Experience
A hosted, curated Fashion Week cultural experience — a comfortably paced walk with cultural spotlight pauses along the way. Each stop answers one simple question:
“How did Black fashion professionals help shape this part of New York’s fashion story?”
This is a curated fashion experience, cultural tour, and fundraising activation all in one, blending:
- Fashion expression — style and outfits
- Black fashion history storytelling — celebrating trailblazers from past to present
- Workforce development awareness
- Community fundraising for BFW Foundation programs and the Scholarship Fund
Participants are not just attending a walk — they are part of a living fashion experience in motion.
Route & Details
- Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
- Start: 8 am - The Fashion District, at the Big Button
- Finish: The High Line
- Distance: 1.0 mile (1.6 km)
- Pace: Comfortable, casual walking pace — approximately 20 minutes of walking, plus cultural spotlight pauses along the route
- Registration: $25 donation to register
- Dress Code: Come dressed fashionable and stylish — comfortable enough for a walk, expressive enough for the runway
Purpose
Your participation directly funds:
- BFW Foundation programs, including Black Fashion Career Day (BFCD)
- BFW Foundation Scholarship Fund
Every dollar helps power BFW Foundation programming, including Black Fashion Career Day, and creates scholarships that remove financial barriers for aspiring Black fashion professionals and entrepreneurs — creating a direct link between public participation and:
- Career access in fashion
- Education opportunities
- Industry exposure for Black fashion professionals
Ways to Participate
Option 1: Join the Walk — $25
“I want to experience the Fashion District and support Black fashion history.”
Option 2: Become a Legacy Walker
“I want to walk AND raise funds.”
- Includes a personal fundraising page
- Set a fundraising goal: e. g. Suggested minimum: $250
- Fundraise individually or as part of a team (see below*)
- Share your page directly to social media

Registration Policy: Registration fees are non-refundable. Every ticket purchased directly supports Black Fashion World Foundation's programs, including Black Fashion Career Day, scholarships, and career and entrepreneurship initiatives.
