Walk & Talk River Cleanup

Join Spokane Riverkeeper and Washington State Leave No Trace Advocate Adam Tobey for an evening Walk & Talk along the Spokane River. Together, we'll cleanup the river and explore how Leave No Trace principles can help us care for the places we love, both in the outdoors and in our everyday communities.
As we walk, Adam will share practical ways to reduce our impact, be thoughtful stewards of public spaces, and help ensure that future generations can enjoy healthy, thriving outdoor environments.
Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: Islands Trailhead
Cost: Free! (Suggested donation of $5 to Spokane Riverkeeper)
What to Bring and Wear:
- Wear sturdy walking shoes; we will be traveling approximately 1–2 miles.
- Bring water and sunscreen, especially on warm days.
- Dress for the weather and be prepared for uneven trail surfaces.
About the Speaker
Adam Tobey is a Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor and Wilderness First Responder. After moving west following graduate school, Adam recognized a growing need for outdoor stewardship education and equitable access to outdoor recreation. In 2017, he and his wife founded Arcadia Guided Outdoor Education, partnering with youth-serving organizations across Northern Utah to expand outdoor access while teaching Leave No Trace ethics and responsible recreation.
Today, Arcadia focuses exclusively on Leave No Trace education. Since its inception, Adam has trained nearly 400 Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructors and reached hundreds more through workshops, community events, and outreach programs focused on helping people become better stewards of the outdoors.
