About this Event
Wakulla Springs is a unique natural resource of north Florida and is internationally recognized as a Geological Heritage Site. On this tour of the Wakulla Springs watershed, we will visit six locations within the watershed and discuss what makes Wakulla Springs so unique, how our activities impact the watershed, and why we should care about the health of one Earth’s largest and deepest freshwater springs.
The tour is limited to 10 participants. Attendees will meet at the UF/IFAS Extension Leon County Office (615 E. Paul Russell Rd.) and be driven to six locations within the watershed. At each location we will have short discussions with some walking. We will finish the tour at Wakulla Springs State Park. Attendees should bring water, snacks, and be dressed for short walks in the great outdoors. Lunch can be purchased from the Wakulla Springs Lodge.
Tour stops:
Cascades Park
Anita Davis Preserve at Lake Henrietta Park
Gil Waters Preserve at Lake Munson
