Waihī Beach Summer Kick Off

Get ready to celebrate the start of summer in true Waihī Beach style, with live music, delicious food, and feel-good community vibes filling Wilson Park!

This free, family-friendly celebration is proudly brought to you by Harcourts Gold Star and the Tauranga Western Bay Community Events Fund, whose incredible support makes this event possible.

The Waihī Beach Farmers Market will be open an hour earlier at 10am, so come down early to grab a park, browse the stalls, support local and get ready for an incredible day ahead.

We’re opening the event with a powerful performance from Te Kura Tātahi o Waihī (Waihī Beach School) kapa haka, setting the tone with mana, pride, and connection to place. Their performance is always a highlight, reminding us why community spirit runs so deep here at the beach.

Then it’s time for the music to take over! Our stage will feature an incredible lineup of local and regional talent, from rising stars to returning favourites, each bringing their own flavour to the day.

Headlining the event is Jordyn with a Why, one of Aotearoa’s most exciting emerging artists whose soulful, bilingual sound and captivating storytelling have earned her a devoted following across the motu. With roots in South Auckland and deep ties to Whāingaroa, Mulifanua Lalovi, Falelatai and Vaimoso, Jordyn’s performances are rich in authenticity, emotion, and connection. Thanks to the generous support of OceanaGold, we’re beyond lucky to have her share her voice and stories with our Waihī Beach community.

We’re also thrilled to welcome back crowd favourites King Cool, proudly supported by Sea Esta Camp & Lodge, whose irresistible mix of rock, soul, and Māori-inspired rhythm will have everyone on their feet. Amir Yussof, the Malaysian-born, Waikino-based musician, will bring his smooth, reflective sound to the stage, while local legends IZ WADDID IZ round out the lineup with their signature high-energy, homegrown style — a true reflection of Waihī Beach talent.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! The day will be packed with free family activities, including face painting for the tamariki thanks to Alitech Window Systems, outdoor games, Tenpin bowling, 9-hole mini golf, a community photobooth, a “make your own ceramic Christmas ornament” station, the Waihī Beach Farmers Market, and food stalls serving up delicious local eats. You’ll also have the chance to meet some of our amazing local community groups who bring so much life and colour to Waihī Beach year-round.
