Enjoy an easy, go at your own pace walk, sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association (AVA), in Shingle Creek Regional Park. Walk fee is $4; free for kids if not participating in AVA achievement programs. If not preregistered, register for the walk from 9-10:30 a.m. Finish by 1 p.m. Water and candy will be provided at the start/finish and checkpoints. Carrying water is advisedThe walk route starts from the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum porch and goes through the Shingle Creek Regional Park. The trail runs alongside the Shingle Creek waterway, which feeds into Lake Tohopekaliga ("Lake Toho") forming part of the headwaters of the Everglades. The route leads to Pioneer Village, which is a recreated settlement comprised of a permanent collection of authentic structures from the 1800's which once stood in different areas of Osceola County. If you wish to visit the village structures, the fee is $8/adults. $4/kids 12-4, Free/under 4. Visit to village is not necessary to complete walk.
Note: Restrooms at Welcome Center open at 10am. Entry into the museum is free.
