Vědecké jednohubky: po stopách neviditelného
Mgr. Eva Svoboda, Ph.D. / Ing. Tibor Füzik, Ph.D.
Jaké stopy po sobě zanechává život – a co z nich dokáže přečíst současná věda? Eva Svoboda ukáže, jak lze pomocí pradávných proteinů rekonstruovat minulost a zjistit více o lidech, zvířatech i předmětech starých stovky či tisíce let. Tibor Füzik nás zavede do neviditelného světa virů a bakteriofágů a ukáže, jak jejich strukturu odhaluje kryoelektronová mikroskopie. Dvě krátké popularizační přednášky vědců z CEITEC Masarykovy univerzity doplní diskuse s publikem. Po skončení programu bude prostor pokračovat v otázkách i rozhovorech neformálně nad výstavou kostí a 3D modelů virů.
Poznámka: Přednášky budou pomocí AI tlumočeny z českého do anglického jazyka.

********** ENGLISH BELOW **********
Brno Observatory and Planetarium, in cooperation with CEITEC Masaryk University https://www.ceitec.cz/, cordially invites you to a popular science event entitled: „Taste of Science: Tracing the Invisible“ on Thursday, November 19, 2026 at 18:00.
Eva Svoboda, Ph.D. / Tibor Füzik, Ph.D.
What traces does life leave behind, and what can modern science learn from them? Eva Svoboda will demonstrate how ancient proteins can be used to reconstruct the past and reveal new insights into people, animals, and objects that are hundreds or even thousands of years old. Tibor Füzik will take us into the invisible world of viruses and bacteriophages and show how cryo-electron microscopy enables scientists to uncover their structures in remarkable detail.
The programme features two short popular-science talks by researchers from CEITEC Masaryk University, followed by a discussion with the audience. After the talks, attendees will have the opportunity to continue the conversation informally while exploring an exhibition of bones and 3D models of viruses.
Please note: The talks will be delivered in Czech and accompanied by AI-generated English subtitles.
Tickets: https://1url.cz/ve9Sv
The event will take place in the main planetarium hall (the so-called Digitarium), which has a seating capacity of 189 visitors. We look forward to welcoming you! 😊
