Description:
The VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Therapies for Clients with Cancer or other Life Limiting Conditions qualification will prepare you to work within a healthcare setting providing complementary therapies for clients who are suffering life limiting conditions or who are critically frail. Complementary therapies are widely available to people with cancer and increasingly to patients with a range of long term medical and life limiting conditions. These therapies are delivered alongside orthodox treatments, often within the healthcare setting, with the aim of providing psychological and emotional support through the relief of symptoms.

Who is this qualification for?
VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Therapies for Clients with Cancer or other Life Limiting Conditions qualification provides a specialised progression route with advanced technical knowledge and skills for Level 3 complementary therapists.
This qualification is completed through the exam board - The VTCT (Vocational training and charitable trust); and is Ofqual regulated.
Pre-requisite / Entry level:
To be eligible for registration on this qualification, it is a requirement that you are a qualified complementary therapist holding a Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in at least one of the three main disciplines of complementary therapies, namely - aromatherapy, reflexology and massage. Anatomy and physiology knowledge at Level 3 or equivalent is also a mandatory requirement.
Course format:
4 practical (classroom) training / assessment days + online learning modules + case studies
+ monthly video calls for coursework support (dates tbc)
Course content:
Unit UCT11M - Interpersonal skills for the complementary therapist
UCT13M - Provide complementary therapies for people with life limiting conditions
UCT14M - Working with healthcare professionals
UCT10M - Principles of providing complementary therapies in a healthcare setting

Duration:
GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 186. (GLH incl’s. practical, coursework, case studies, assessments, research/reading)
Home study (Coursework): This is completed in your own time
Practical Training: Please check out our current course dates on our website for the practical training element, additional dates can be supplied.

Attendance:
4 classroom days (ALL dates must be attended)
+ monthly video calls for coursework support (dates tbc)

Model required:
Yes, you will be required to work on models to carry out your case studies at home.
You may be required to bring a model for one to one training, and for your assessments

Case Studies:
To achieve this qualification, it is recommended a minimum of eight case studies for clients in a realistic working environment should be completed. At least three of these should have a minimum of two follow-ups. You should aim to provide complementary therapy to a variety of different clients with life limiting medical conditions or those who are clinically frail.

Career potential:
Advanced / clinical complementary therapist for clients with cancer or life limiting conditions - employed or self-employed, working in a salon or spa or as a home / mobile therapist.
