VSMF@30 - David Lakirovich, Desmond Hoebig, Arthur Rowe
Assistant Concertmaster of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, David Lakirovich is also a passionate chamber musician. He has collaborated and performed with ensembles that include the Pacifica Quartet, Cavani Quartet, and the Vermeer Quartet, and has performed in the Jupiter Chamber Players in New York and the North Shore Chamber Music Festival in Chicago.
Desmond Hoebig, longtime Professor of Cello at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, has had a distinguished career as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician. Desmond was the cellist with the Orford String Quartet when they won a Juno award for the best classical music album in 1990. He has performed for 30 years with the Hoebig-Moroz Trio and has taught and performed at festivals throughout North America.
Arthur Rowe joined the University of Victoria in 1992 as Professor of Piano. A Steinway Artist, he has enjoyed a performing career spanning five decades as a critically acclaimed recitalist, soloist with orchestra, and chamber musician. Since 2008, Arthur has served as Artistic Director of the Victoria Summer Music Festival.
This concert features music by Beethoven, Debussy, and Schubert.
There will be a pre-concert talk at 2:00 pm.
