Vom Chaos zur Stille mit der Musik von Erik Satie und John Cage
John Cage, Erik Satie, Les Apaches !, Julien Masmondet, Gordon, Sarah Silverblatt-Buser, Othman Louati, Philippe Hattat
Bei der Premiere von Erik Saties Skandalballett „Parade“ stürmten Kunstgegner mit dem Schlachtruf „Vorhang!” die Bühne. Doch es war kein Stück Stoff, sondern ein Kunstwerk von Pablo Picasso, das die Bühne zierte. Jetzt wird diese ungewöhnliche Kulisse zum Ausgangspunkt für eine neue interdisziplinäre Erfahrung: Nachdem Les Apaches ! bei der letzten Ruhrtriennale „Rave“ mit „Ravel“ verbunden hat, verschmelzen in „Vorhang!“ Musik, Performance, Bewegung und Minimalismus. Das kreative Chaos des Querkopfs Satie wird eingesogen in die kontemplative Stille seines geistigen Schülers John Cage.

At the premiere of Erik Satie’s scandalous ballet “Parade” anti-art protestors stormed the stage shouting “Curtain!” to stop the show. But it wasn’t just a piece of fabric that adorned the stage – it was a work of art by Pablo Picasso. Now this backdrop is becoming the setting for a new interdisciplinary experience: after Les Apaches ! put the “rave” into “Ravel” at the last Ruhrtriennale, “Vorhang!” evolves from the absurd to the sublime, combining music, performance, movement and minimalism. The creative chaos of contrarian Satie is absorbed into the contemplative silence of his pupil in spirit John Cage.
