Difficulty: Easy/Moderate, with some rocky terrain; Beginners are welcome!

What will you do?

Join Friends of the Fells and of to manage invasive plant species that threaten the valuable Fells ecosystem. We will use hand-pulling and manual tools to remove the aggressive plant species porcelain berry near Bellevue Pond in the Fells. The presence of porcelain berry in this location threatens to spread further into the forest and eventually, the Fells itself. We'll also address other invasives as we encounter them like Multiflora rose, Asiatic bittersweet, and more.

Suitable for ages 12 and up.

This event will be held at the Bellevue Pond parking lot on South Border Road. Parking is limited, so please arrive early to secure a spot.

Tools, eye protection, and light work gloves will be provided; feel free to bring personal tools, gloves, or eye protection if you prefer those. Please bring a hat, sunglasses, your own full reusable water bottle, and a lunch!

We recommend wearing sturdy shoes, long sleeves, long socks, and long pants to help reduce poison ivy or tick exposure. We will be working outdoors, so please bring or wear sunscreen and/or insect repellent.

Please note that there are no restrooms at this site.
