Volunteer with Minds Matter Bay Area — we need you this season!
About this Event
Minds Matter Bay Area pairs high-achieving students with volunteer mentors, instructors, and program leads who help them navigate high school, standardized testing, and the college admissions process. We're recruiting for the 2026/27 program year at both our San Francisco and San Jose sites and we'd love to welcome you to our vibrant volunteer community!
Our biggest need is mentors, especially for our incoming sophomore class — this is a multi-year commitment (students typically stay with their mentor through graduation), and it's the role with the most direct, lasting impact on a student's path. The time ask is manageable: most sessions happen 2–3 Saturdays a month, not every week, plus some check-ins with your student outside of those sessions.
We're also looking for subject instructors in math and verbal/writing, and a handful of program and pod leadership roles for volunteers ready to help run sessions and support other mentors.
No specific background is required — just consistency, patience, and a genuine interest in showing up for a student over time. If this sounds like you, or like someone in your network, apply or learn more at mindsmatterbay.org/join.
