⚓ Volunteer Work Days aboard ATA 202 “Comanche” – Help Preserve a WWII Legend!
Donations always encouraged!
Ready for a Saturday that mixes history, hands-on learning, and waterfront vibes? Join the ATA 202 Foundation crew for a volunteer work day on our 150-ft Naval tug Comanche (built 1944). Whether you’re a seasoned engineer or just curious, there’s a task with your name on it.
What to expect
Lunch on the water – You bring the food and we’ll fire up the galley and feed the whole crew.
Projects for every skill level – painting, light carpentry, cleaning, systems checks, and more.
Guided history moments – Hear sea stories from our Navy and Coast Guard vets, explore the engine room, and see how wartime tech still ticks.
Community & impact – Your elbow grease keeps this floating museum operational for school tours, STEM outreach, veteran therapy sails, and maritime heritage events.
Bring: closed-toe shoes, work clothes, a refillable water bottle, and your best attitude. All tools and safety gear provided.
Make it an overnight adventure
Want the full shipboard experience? After the work day you’re welcome to:
Rack out in crew’s berthing (first-come, first-served bunks)
Roll out a sleeping bag on deck under the stars
Upgrade to a stateroom if space allows
