NAMI Indiana is seeking local volunteers in the Indianapolis area for NAMI in the Lobby, a program that offers hope, guidance, and resources to families facing mental health crises at Riley Hospital for Children.If you have personal experience supporting a loved one with a mental health condition and want to help others through some of their most difficult moments, we invite you to join us.
Attend our free training to prepare for volunteering with NAMI in the Lobby. You’ll learn about the resources we provide and gain skills to feel confident, comfortable, and equipped to support families.
The training covers:
-NAMI Self-Care Overview
-Empathetic Responding
-Program Logistics
-Reducing Access to Lethal Means
-Understanding Mental Health Crises
-Active Listening & De-escalation
-Practice Scenarios & Roleplay
