Do you love history, enjoy talking with people, and have some free time you’re looking fill? Then becoming a volunteer tour guide or information desk volunteer might be something to consider. We will be hosting a one day training on Saturday March 29th at the Fort Macon Visitor Center from 9am – 3pm. This is for both new guides, old guides, and people considering being guides. Volunteers who work the front Information Desk are welcome as well since they get asked many of the same questions as tour guides. The agenda is not completely ironed out yet, but in general we will have:
-A general overview of Ft. Macon’s volunteer program.
-An in-debt PowerPoint presentation lecture on the history of Ft. Macon
-An actual walking tour of the Fort showing popular stops and talking points, and explaining common questions and answers.
-Time for questions & answers
Lunch will be provided by the Friends of Ft. Macon, so please email ranger Paul Terry ([email protected]) nor call the park office (252-726-3775) to RSVP so we know about how much food we will need.
