Volunteer to help out with our Free kayaking opportunities for adults and families. Bicentennial Park boat launch, near Main Street Bridge.
About this Event

We will be working from 9a-5p. The event will be from 10a-2p this year on both Saturday (07/11/2026) and Sunday (07/12/2026). We will have 4 shifts options available.

First shift will be from 9a-1p.

Second shift will be from 12p-4p.

Third shift will be an all day shift from 9a-4p.
Fourth shift option will be a clean up shift at the end of the event from 3p to 5p.

1. Water/Land Help- No experience necessary for helping put participants in and out of the water.

2. On water safety boating on the river- You must carry an L1 or L2 ACA river instructor certification or have passed an L1 or L2 skills development course and/or are considered a qualified assistant. You will be in your kayak as a safety boater ON THE RIVER at either bridge or in the middle between the two... (Main Street Bridge and COSI).

3. Life jacket fitting | Paddle selection | Safety Briefing area - No experience necessary for this volunteer shift. You will be assisting the participants with their life jackets, paddles and general safety information.

4. Information tent- No experience necessary for these shifts. You will be helping the public fill out waivers and inform them about HERO USA’s programs.
