UTC-07:00Location
Alviso Bufferlands Burrowing Owl Project | San Jose, CA

About this Event
It is officially weeding season! Together we will be working to improve habitat for the resident burrowing owl population by removing invasive plants to make room for native plants. By helping native plants thrive, we are attracting the owls' prey base (insects and rodents). Activities may involve digging with a hand tool, bending, kneeling, carrying buckets of water, as well as walking on uneven terrain.
Visit Grassroots Ecology’s Alviso Bufferlands webpage to learn more about the ecosystem and accessibility considerations.
Waivers/Registration: All volunteers attending the workday must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. This opportunity is only for those aged 18+.
Parking information: Navigate to 150 Nortech Pkwy, San Jose, CA 95134, the closest address to the project site. The site is not open to the public because it is sensitive habitat for burrowing owls. Access will be provided through the large metal gates at the end of the road - there will be a sign for the event. Park inside the gates of the project site along the unpaved road. Do not block the road.
Meeting Space: We will meet inside the gate at the main project site, down the unpaved road. Grassroots Ecology staff will be present to welcome you. The gate will be locked at 9:45am; please arrive on time.
Facilities: No bathrooms or running water are available at the project site.
