Over the weekend there will be a range of learning opportunities including:First Response (Saturday or Sunday Full Day) this covers the practical and theory requirements to complete the first aid learning for volunteers who require this as part of their role including Group Lead Volunteers, Section Team Leaders and Section Team Members.
First Response Top Up (Friday Evening) is for those who've completed external courses that didn't cover Scouts First Response. Please speak to your District Lead Volunteer or Volunteering Development Team Leader before booking on the course.
Nights Away Part 1 (Saturday Full Day) includes all the theory relating to residential experiences, and covers all the content up to an indoor permit. You do not need to attend both parts, please discuss with your District Lead Volunteer, Group Lead Volunteer or Nights Away Assessor before booking onto the course.
Nights Away Part 2 (Sunday Full Day) enhances content learned in Part 1 and covers more practical skills, outdoors and is relevant for campsite permits and beyond. This is a practical course and you will be outside for most of the course, so please dress appropriately. You do not need to attend both parts, please discuss with your District Lead Volunteer, Group Lead Volunteer or Nights Away Assessor before booking onto the course.
Instructing Practical Skills (Sunday AM) gives new and experienced volunteers the insight into a range of practical skills, including how to deliver them safely. This topic covers the learning required for Module 18 for the optional wood badge.
Skills of Leadership, Working with Adults and Growing the Section (Sunday AM) covers three key areas for volunteering with Scouts. These modules are for new or experienced volunteers wishing to brush up their skills in these areas. These three topics cover the learning required for Modules 8, 9 and 13 for the optional wood badge.
Introduction to Residential Experiences and International (Sunday PM) gives new and experienced adult volunteers an introduction of why residential experiences and international are key parts of our programme. These two topics cover the learning required for Modules 16 and 19 for the option wood badge.
Module 25A for Learning Assessors (Saturday Full Day) this covers the learning required to become a Learning Assessor to support other volunteers with their learning. Please speak to your District Lead Volunteer or Volunteering Development Team Leader before booking onto the course.
Virtual Tackling Challenging Behaviour Workshop (Saturday AM) is to support volunteers who may need further guidance and support in tackling challenging behaviour in their sections. This workshop will be virtual.
All learning opportunities are face to face unless specified otherwise.
