Volunteer Invasive Plant Removal & String Trim

We will remove the non-native highly invasive plant species Japanese stiltgrass (https://wvdnr.gov/.../WV-Priority-Invasive-Plants-List...) along the trails and conduct some much needed trail string trimming. Focusing on areas where stiltgrass is densely populated. Some plants immediately on the trails are best hand pulled so those who prefer not to use string trimmers are also needed. August is the perfect time to target Japanese stiltgrass before it flowers and sets seeds. Removing this non-native invasive species will allow more native plants to flourish.
The event will proceed in light rain, but the event would be canceled if rain is heavy or there is any lightning forecasted.
When: Saturday August 8 at 8-10 AM (time spent is your preference).

Bring:
- Comfortable shoes
- Long pants and long sleeves (tick prevention)
- String trimmers (W**d eaters)!
- Eye and ear protection (if you will be string trimming; you may also want a mask in case you string trim white snakeroot)
- Gloves, for pulling (we'll provide some too)
- Trash bags (we'll provide some too)
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Your neighbors!
