Volunteers are needed for 2.5-hour shifts on weekends (including Labour Day Monday), timed around high tide. No experience necessary, we’ll provide full training. Snacks and drinks provided.
This orientation session will take place at the Barn on Sand Cove Road before the Irving Nature Park entrance. Hank Scarth will introduce the project and the amazing shorebird species you’ll encounter. Nancy Hamilton will follow with practical tips for engaging with the public and helping beach visitors understand how to share the shore responsibly.
Volunteers are loaned an official ID vest to wear during shifts. You’ll also receive a Shorebird of the Year ball cap which is yours to keep as a thank you!
