Volunteer for Fitzgerald Clothing Closet

Our Clothing Closet provides free access to clothing for those in need, significantly impacting their self-esteem by allowing them to feel confident and included when they have appropriate attire, which can be especially crucial for families facing clothing insecurity and potentially impacting their academic performance and social interactions.

Clothing Sorters: sorting through incoming donations of clothing accessories and pulling out items with stains, rips, pilling and odors. The sorters will assess the quality, condition and seasonal appropriateness of the donations and help categorize them by type and size. Clothes in good condition, of high quality and of seasonal appropriateness are hung and folded and stocked on our clothing room. Those that do not meet expectations are packed away, donated forward or recycled. Stained or ripped items will be donated to goodwill for their buy the pound program. Out of Season Items will be labeled and packed in the appropriate tote and stored in the clothing closet in the labeled storage. This will involve standing, bending, reaching and moving around for the majority of time, with opportunities for sitting occasionally Lifting boxes/bags up to 40lbs.
