About this Event
Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is excited to bring back Valet Bike Parking at Redwood City's Pub in the Park series for the 2nd year! Valet Bike Parking is one of many ways that SVBC encourages people to bike to public events, and your volunteering supports that effort.
There are 4 events, each with two 3.5-hour shifts:
10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
1:00-4:30 PM
Volunteering involves:
- Setting up and breaking down canopies and bike racks
- Greeting and explaining intake process to customers
- Intake and registration of bicycles using QR codes
- Wheeling bikes to/from bike racks
- Lifting bicycles onto/off of bike racks
- Monitoring bikes during event
- Light data entry using QR codes
- Providing a great customer service experience with a welcoming demeanor
If you sign up for a shift but are unable to attend, please let us know if things change as early as possible. This helps us to try and fill the spot well before the event.
Volunteers must be able to do at least one of the following
- Greet customers verbally or non-verbally.
- Take tickets from, or hand tickets to, customers, and read numbers off the tickets.
- Walk with bicycles and lift bicycles off the ground.
Volunteers aged 13 to 18, who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to digitally sign and send in advance our Minor Consent Form to [email protected], or bring a signed hard copy of the form to the shift supervisor the day of the event. Volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to volunteer.
Parents/Guardians, if your child is coming with you to volunteer, the expectation is that they can be independent and support the bike parking program without your need to supervise them the entire time. You will be working together, but must be able to leave them unattended at times. If you are unsure if this is an age appropriate volunteer activity for your child, please contact SVBC's Bike Parking Manager at [email protected].
The day before the event, volunteers will be contacted using the information provided during your registration. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
