About this Event
You don’t need any special skills to volunteer with Run 4 Wales at our events - you just need lots of enthusiasm! There are a whole range of different roles available on race day, with something to suit everyone including:
- Support the Runners Bag Drop marquee on Museum Avenue, near City Hall and chat to runners pre and post-race
- Hand out t-shirts, fruit, water and medals while congratulating runners at the Finish Line on King Edward VII Avenue
- Be a Course Marshal along the route and direct and cheer on runners
- Join the cycle marshal team, moving between locations to support marshal teams as needed (you need your own bike and helmet for this role!)
- Help give out bottled water at one of four water points along the route
T he Extra Miler volunteers are a friendly and welcoming bunch. If you're volunteering near the start-finish area, we all meet at the Volunteer Welcome Marquee early on event day to sign in, collect kit and most importantly have a hot drink and meet the other volunteers. Your supervisor will then give you a full information briefing, before you head off to your event area.
I f volunteering around the course, you'll go straight to your volunteering location to meet your supervisor and sign in.
All Extra Milers receive an exclusive volunteers branded t-shirt and bag, a lunch pack and on the day support from a supervisor. You'll meet lots of great people - some of our volunteers have been with us for 10 years!
Volunteering is a great way to have fun, make friends, enhance your CV and experience the electric atmosphere of race day. So if you want to have a great day out and find out what mass running races are all about, then why not join us?!
PLEASE NOTE: The minimum age for individual volunteers is 14 and you'll need to be accompanied by an adult. Please contact us if you are aged 14 -17 and would like to get involved so we can tell you more. Our email address is [email protected].
If you are part of a local community or youth group that might be interested in volunteering, we would love to hear from you. We have previously been supported by the police youth volunteers, armed forces cadet groups and scouts as well as social running groups and many more.
We also offer corporate volunteering days. If your business has corporate social responsibility goals or would like to enjoy a team building day out of the office, please get in touch.
You can also volunteer for the Cardiff Half Junior races, which take place on Saturday 5th October between 10am and 1pm.
