Volume One by KSJ Club: A Manga and Kanji Study Pop-up Bar

Kakkoii Social Japanese Club is proud to present Volume One!

Using a collection of Japanese language manga donated by Bookoff New York and our lovely members, we're excited to create a cozy corner of the world for you to read in peace, make note of new kanji and vocab, and chat with fellow lovers of Japanese culture and language. Bringing your own manga is encouraged but please no spoilers when sharing stories not in volume ones!

Each session is just under 90 minutes long. We'll read for about 25 minutes while taking notes of any new kanji or fun phrases to share.

Tickets include 1 drink and 1 snack, with additional goodies available for purchase.
(Non-alcoholic drinks available; we are unable to guarantee gluten-free snacks)

This event is recommended for intermediate, advanced and native speakers, as well as beginners who are up to a challenge.

Conversations will be led by @KiaraNYCjp and held mainly in English - though may switch after an initial vibe check.

0 - 15 min
Arrival ➔ pick a snack and drink ➔ intro

15 - 40 min
Quiet reading time (Custom KSJC vocab sheets available)

40 - 70 min
Guided discussion led by Kiara ➔ each guest shares favorite new word, phrase or kanji

70 - 90 min
Free talk ➔ reading recommendations
