Be Gay, For God’s Sake is a sharp, time-bending queer new-writing drama told with a dose of satirical mischief. When a Christian mother fails to accept her daughter’s gay relationship, divine intervention digs up her forgotten queer past in a small town, Inner Mongolia. Inspired by real events.

This is a fast-paced journey through family, faith, and words that never got said—where queerness rubs up against culture, shame, and generational silence. Told with cheekiness, a bit of God, and a lot of tenderness, this play will make you laugh and cry at the same time.

When God delivers a seminar on how to deal with Earthly Matters, expect chaos, budding romance, and dodgy miracles. Funny, moving, and painfully human. Bring your family along—if you want to change their perspectives.

Haoyu, Tianxin and Hector are 3 theatre-makers who create East-Asian queer stories inspired by their own lived experiences. They collaborated on the new play A Thousand Papercuts Still Skin Deep (Baron's Court Theatre, London, 2022). They came from their own practices including physical theatre, puppetry, adaptation, and new writing.

The 2025 festival will take place 3rd-23rd November 2025, in venues across London. We are returning with our Theatre Deli Voila! Residency and will once again serve as the festival's artists hub, welcoming audiences and artists to share our space to create and connect.
