Voices on a Sunday Afternoon: Opera, Art Songs and Musical Theater

For eighty years, this room was full of children's voices. Richwood Academy was built in 1870 by Thomas S. Sharp, who put up Old Town Hall the following year, and it served as Richwood's public school until the township elementary school opened in 1950. On Sunday, December 6 at 3 PM, it fills with song again.
Voices on a Sunday Afternoon closes the Cultural Center's fall season. Singers from Rowan University's Vocal Music Division, under the direction of Marian Steiber, perform opera, art song and musical theater in the historic classroom, in a building small enough that every voice carries.
The Cultural Center is at 836 Lambs Road in Richwood, with on-site parking. The concert will be livestreamed and archived on the Harrison Township Historical Society Facebook page and posted to YouTube.
Admission is free with the support of the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Rowan College of South Jersey in partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State and National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission/Department of State.
