Save the Date! On March 7th, 2026, we will be hosting this unique, grant funded, community reading event through the Aldo Leopold Foundation. Join the Charlevoix Conservation District board and staff, along with conservation and community leaders from throughout the Tip of the Mitt region including local garden clubs, district libraries, chambers, Friends of the Boyne River, Master Gardeners, Environmental Educators, the NCMC Environmental Studies Department, Little Traverse Conservancy - including retired former executive director and author of A North Country Almanac, Tom Bailey, Walloon Conservancy and more, as they share passages from the book and let Leopold's timeless words awaken a deeper ethic of care for our land.
You don't need to be familiar with Aldo Leopold or his writings to enjoy this unique community event. Aldo's words have been inspiring conservationists and communities alike since it's first publication in 1949 - right around the time the Charlevoix Conservation District came to be!
Enjoy a free copy of A Sand County Almanac and refreshments upon participation in the event.
Space and books are limited, please RSVP after February 1st: 231-582-6193.

We hope you'll join us for this fun, new community conservation event in March!
