This powerful program features Prometheus’s full program exploring songs of liberty and justice throughout American history. From spirituals and abolitionist songs to civil rights anthems and contemporary works addressing freedom, this concert traces America's ongoing journey toward fulfilling its founding ideals. The program features works by diverse American composers, including the Missouri premiere of a new work by local Missouri native Hans Bridger Heruth commissioned for America's 250th anniversary. The second half features the Ecumenical Festival Choir, composed of singers from area churches who participated in the afternoon workshop, with Prometheus members.
