On Monday, June 22nd, studium resort will be dedicated to the hobby of singing. Visual artist Natalia Papaeva will be our guest. During the program 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘮, we explore singing not only as a form of expression, but also as a way of remembering, resisting and creating space for endangered languages and personal histories.
The evening opens with a conversation about Natalia’s artistic practice and the role of voice and sound within it. How can singing become a carrier of memory? And what happens when private experiences are brought into the public realm through language, movement and sound?
Afterwards, there will be a vocal workshop inspired by Papaeva’s work. One of Natalia’s personal sources of inspiration is central to this session: singing while cooking! The audience is guided as a kind of choir, using kitchen utensils as instruments for sound and rhythm.

Natalia Papaeva is an artist working across performance, video, installation, drawing and text. Born in Buryatia, Siberia, her work explores voice, language, memory and cultural displacement.
In Papaeva’s work, language goes beyond words alone. Gestures, rhythm and images also play an important role. Her projects often begin with texts that are remembered, passed on, or imagined and create space for different languages and stories to coexist side by side.
This is the last studium resort before summer. The next edition will take place on September 21.
