Mississippi for a Just World (MSJW) invites you to another evening of the Voices for a Just World lecture series, featuring Amanda Seales.

Amanda Seales is an Artistic Intellectual who uses humor and media to entertain and educate. She seamlessly weaves together the scholarship of a Master’s degree in African American Studies from Columbia University and an unwavering dedication to social justice, with her skill sets as a comedian, host, actress, writer, radio personality, visual artist and more. A 30-year veteran in entertainment, her credits are impressive, ranging from HBO, to NBC, 2.3M followers on IG and sold out shows across the nation. Her company, Smart Funny & Black Productions is an independent ecosystem of original quality content grounded in edutainment. Weekly, Ms. Seales invites the masses to “wake up on the right side of history” via her YouTube morning show/podcast, “Views from AmandaLand”. She has potent conversations with empowering guests on her long running podcast, “Small Doses”. Her documentary, In Amanda We Trust, engages audiences in the importance of civic involvement. Her visual art is shared via her store, AmandaLand Exports and she intertwines all of her talents in her latest one woman show, What Would the Ancestors Say?? In 2024, her radio show was cancelled by Radio One for being “too polarizing and not consistently funny.” They were right! As an unwavering truth translator, Ms.Seales' work can’t always be light-hearted. Nonetheless, she is committed to shifting culture towards collective liberation, by any joke necessary.

Through this new series, MSJW and its partners aim to bring forward courageous thinkers who challenge us to imagine a more just and connected world.

About Mississippi for a Just World (MSJW)

Mississippi for a Just World (MSJW) is a humanitarian organization based in Mississippi that bridges the fight to build a more just world from the Deep South to the Global South. Our goal is to be a living, breathing movement for human rights, deeply rooted in the enduring legacy of Mississippi's human liberation struggle. Across borders and cultures, irrespective of our different political, cultural, and social backgrounds, we are fighting for a world where every individual is empowered, where justice prevails, and where human dignity is non-negotiable.

Our Mission:

Rooted in a rich history of resistance, our mission is to serve as champions of human rights from Mississippi to Palestine, to Sudan, to Congo, to Haiti, and to all oppressed people of the world by dismantling systems of harm and injustice through transformative education, collective power building, and political advocacy.

Our Vision:

We envision a world where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstance, enjoys fundamental human rights, dignity, and equitable opportunities for a better future. MSJW is committed to fostering collaboration among diverse organizations, working to address the most pressing humanitarian challenges. Through collective action, we aspire to inspire positive change, cultivate empathy, and build bridges of understanding across borders and cultures.
