Jenny Wilde-Parkes is a North Shropshire / North Wales–based contemporary artist, multi-instrumentalist, and shamanic practitioner. Music has been both her passion and her life’s work, and in recent years she has woven deep listening, improvisation, and shamanic connection into her creative practice.
This music is born from the land itself — from trees, waters, stones, animals, nature spirits, mountains, and sacred sites. It is interwoven with my own inner and outer journey as I stepped into the unknown with my children as a single mother, discovering the quiet magic of my home in North Wales during the making of this album and the re-discovery of myself as an improvisatory ethereal folk musician.
Guided by my belief in animism — that everything is alive and conscious — and shaped through deep listening and devotion to my most cherished places in nature, these relationships have given rise to much of the sound you hear.
Nicky Hetherington writes to raise awareness of the climate and environmental crises as well as equality and social issues, while maintaining an element of hope and humour. She was awarded 2nd place in last year's Caterpillar Prize and has been published in a number of anthologies and journals (including online).
