Voice United - Gospel Music CONCERT!
About this Event
Join us for an evening of joyful, soul-stirring Gospel music in Santa Clarita! This concert marks the debut performance of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir's newest Southern California community choir chapter, built from scratch over just a few rehearsals under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Terrance Kelly.
While many people have been inspired by the joy and exuberance of Black Gospel and Spiritual music traditions, participating in an authentic way has not always been accessible to people outside the African American community. OIGC does something different: we open the door, welcoming people of all backgrounds to feel the power, the healing, the joy of this uniquely American music — an artform that has shaped so much of our culture. Singers of all faiths, ages, and experience levels learn through oral tradition, story telling, and song about the beauty, joy, pain, and deep meaning behind these songs.
OIGC has been inspiring joy and unity in Oakland and around the world for four decades. Tonight, that tradition takes root in Southern California. Join us, as we plant these new seeds.
Ticket sales help offset direct expenses paid out-of-pocket by the artists who travel from out of town, and contribute to our generous host — St. Stephen's Episcopal — who has so graciously opened their doors to us these past weeks.
All faiths, all backgrounds, all welcome. No one turned away for lack of funds.
