An introduction to singing in the tradition of Nth Indian classical & devotional music. In this 5-week course we will learn the foundational practices for Hindustani vocal music and become familiar with two traditional ragas. These tools will open the door to vocal improvisation, composition and creativity. This music can also become a powerful meditative practice.
A musician and educator of diverse experiences, Branan has journeyed deep into the heart of Classical Indian music. His primary love is the ancient vocal genre called ‘dhrupad’, which he learnt from masters in India. He has performed this music around the world, and regularly leads ‘kirtan’ devotional singing sessions in Perth.
When: Saturdays 4pm - 5:30pm, Oct 11 until Nov 15 (excl. 25th)
