Come visit us from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 10th in the John B. Derden Civilian Conservation Corps. Museum as we celebrate CCC history day...and the beginnings of the Greatest Generation - the come-back kids...from the Great Depression to Victories in World War II...Ninety one years ago in April, 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6101 starting the Civilian Conservation Corps. The order directed that the program be supervised jointly by four government departments: Labor, which recruited the young men; War, which operated the camps; the Agriculture; and Interior, which organized and supervised the work projects. And so it began...
Learn about the young men that built Vogel State Park and many other parks across the United States. Vogel Volunteers CCC Historian Ray Taylor will be presenting.
Hands-on activities of work similar to what the CCC boys would have done in the 1930's.
