Voces del Sur - Free Flamenco Choir in Amsterdam Zuid
About this Event
Voces del Sur is a new participatory flamenco choir in Amsterdam Zuid, supported by Stadsdeel Zuid. The project takes place at Huis van de Wijk Buitenveldert and is completely free and open to everyone, with no previous singing or musical experience required.
The aim of Voces del Sur goes beyond learning to sing. Through flamenco singing and rhythm, we want to bring together local residents of different ages and cultural backgrounds, encourage new encounters and strengthen social connection within the neighbourhood. Flamenco has always been a collective art form, built around singing, rhythm and people coming together – and this is the spirit we would like to bring to Amsterdam Zuid.
The sessions are led by flamenco singer Yota Baron, accompanied by professional flamenco guitarists Vicente Santiago and Lucas Arango and percussionist Juri Kuefner.
