Vocal Technique Presentation at the Carnegie!

Tues, Sept. 15th @ 6:30pm at the Carnegie Arts Center
This will be an informal, fun and educational presentation on different vocal performance techniques with a focus on healthy, supported singing practices!
All are welcome to attend this FREE event, especially those who usually only sing in the car and are curious about ways to use their instrument more comfortably and reliably.
Kat Baumann is a fiscal year 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Kat Baumann is not a licensed voice teacher or vocal coach; she's been singing in various choral ensembles as a mezzo soprano for 22 years, and since 2009 she's performed live throughout southern Minnesota in the following groups and settings:
Bring the Sun, Pageant and Singalong Nation, Decantus, I Cantanti & Le Donne chamber choirs, Mankato Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Joe Tougas & Associates, Little Theater of Owatonna and Paradise Center for the Arts productions, Two Birds & a Kat, Joe's Garage Frank Zappa Tribute Band, and Belleville Rendezvous.
Kat will be demonstrating different vocal techniques, explaining which parts of the body are often engaged in order to perform them, and giving examples of several singing styles along with explanations on how to create different sounds without hurting and straining your body.
Kat is passionate about vocal performance, both live in front of an audience and alone in one's shower. She's equally as passionate about people caring for their instruments the best they can, so they can keep singing all life long.
