Vocal Introductions for our Spring 2025 Americana Adventure concert series: St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 414 SW 9th St. (at SW 9th & Hurbert), in Newport:

Coastal Voices is Lincoln County's Premier Choral Ensemble, celebrating, cultivating and promoting the choral arts in Lincoln County, Oregon! Rehearsals begin January 21st 2025 and are held weekly Tuesday Evenings 6pm-8:30pm at First Presbyterian Church. Rehearsals culminate in a 4 venue concert series in May 2025 throughout Lincoln County and seasonal sing-a-longs.
Vocal Introductions:
You don’t need to prepare any music in advance. During your appointment, we will spend a little time getting to know each other and warming up, run through a few vocal exercises, and then Rhodd asks the singer to repeat patterns of notes and to learn the melody of a round. They sing it in unison with a couple of our choir members, and then all three perform it in sequence - creating harmony. Finally, the introduction ends with reviewing and singing an American patriotic song familiar to most everyone: “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”
We don’t require that you’ve previously been in a choir or even that you know how to read music. We’re happy to help you learn more skills once you join our ensemble and provide lots of tools to make that learning easier. We look for a great attitude, a willingness to try hard, and a commitment to participate in all aspects of our organization. It’s also important that you be willing to work on your own, as well as in our weekly rehearsals.
