An in-person CPD day for Veterinary Nurses designed to build confidence & ignite clinical interests to inspire positive change in practice.
About this Event

VN Spark is back, even bigger & better than before … and you’re all invited!

In 2022 VN Spark 1.0 launched and 100 VNs from all over the UK and Ireland attended.

Feedback from my first sold-out event was overwhelmingly positive and I had the best day delivering sessions & chatting with delegates alongside my guest speakers.

VN Spark has been created by Veterinary Nurses, for Veterinary Nurses. It is designed for VNs who are looking to boost their nursing confidence and nurture their clinical interests in practice. Sessions are friendly and informal, presented peer to peer and friend to friend.

I’ve picked some of my favourite super passionate RVNs to join me and I can’t wait to deliver this day alongside them. We will be delivering a variety of sessions to target different, frequently encountered areas of clinical practice. All sessions will have practical, real-life applications and be injected with up-to-date evidence-based nursing guidance. We will give you plenty of ideas and inspiration to take back to work & share with your colleagues, which you can use every day.

For VN Spark 2.0 I have introduced an exhibition, welcoming organisations and companies who encourage VNs and provide services and products that help us do our jobs even better.

After my guest speaker sessions have finished, we will have a whole panel Q+A where we will go through your questions from the day. We then roll into an evening social event where food and drinks will be provided and you will have the opportunity to network and natter with me, my guest speakers and each other.

My aim is simple, for you to leave at the end of the day feeling ignited, inspired, empowered and confident to shine bright like the amazing veterinary nurse that you are.

Alex Taylor RVN CertSAN ISFM DipFN & AdvCertFB

@TheCatNurse (FB) / @TheCatNurse_RVN (IG)

Registered Veterinary Nurse | Feline Advocate | CPD Provider

Ever since a very young age I have always had an interest and love of animals. This interest soon became a passion and at around the age of eleven years old I realised that I wanted to care for animals and become a veterinary nurse. I qualified in 1997 (with credit) and over the years I have worked in various roles both first opinion and referral clinics. Now, over 25 years later I have developed a real passion (and obsession!) for cats.

This desire to deliver the best nursing care to all my patients has driven me to gain additional qualifications and knowledge in all things feline whilst working in practice as a veterinary nurse. I have completed both the ISFM Nursing Certificate and Diploma (distinction) as well as the ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behaviour. I am currently studying to gain my Animal Behaviour Technician’ qualification. I work part time for the charity International Cat Care and am a member of the International Cat Care Feline Wellbeing Panel.

Clinical Educator in CPR & Leadership

I am an RVN, Coach and Mentor. With a background in teaching and supporting both vets and nurses within practice.

I spent most of my career working in a large referral hospital, , where I held several positions. Beginning my journey as a rotating RVN and then eventually becoming Clinical Services Manager.

Whilst in this position I overhauled the Cardiopulmonary training (CPR) protocol and deliver the relevant training. Alongside this I piloted and introduced a robust induction programme. A large part of my role was being a coach and mentor to new joiners, both vets and nurses.

As a Instructor I have a passion for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Veterinary Medicine and offer training sessions and CPR RECOVER Rescuer Certification Retreats.

Alongside my RCVS and Linneaus role I am working towards Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring.

After working in a variety of first opinion, surgical referral and emergency clinics, Laura joined the internal medicine team at a newly opened referral centre as deputy head medicine nurse in 2015. Here, she fell in love with medicine, leading her to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2019.

That same year, Laura moved to join The Ralph Referral Centre, where she now works as senior medicine nurse, leading and supporting the team of medicine nurses.

After completing her VTS, Laura began a social media page and blog, Veterinary Internal Medicine Nursing. Through this platform, Laura provides accessible CPD to registered and student VNs, via her website, podcast, and social media.
