Family, friends and fans of baseball are invited to come watch the stars of the Quad City sandlot as Veto League Baseball plays one last game under the lights of Douglas Park. There is no cost to attend, however, bring non-perishable food for your chance to earn one of a number of raffle packages given away. League announcements and awards at 7, game starts 7:30. Game should conclude around 9:00.
In the league's 15-year partnership with the RiverBend Food Bank, 9,878 pounds of food have been donated though this game.
What is "Veto League"? It's a Quad City based sandlot style baseball league designed for adults of any age. Everyone who shows is drafted to a team. Pitches are thrown at batting practice speed. Games are played Thursday evenings and Saturday late mornings. There is no cost to play in the VLB.
