Vive le Cricket! ... one man's mission to convert a nation
About this Event
Rex, an English cricket commentator living in Paris, attempts the impossible: converting France to cricket. It's not an easy sell.
In his niche role as a French-language cricket commentator, Rex loves to spread the gospel about the glories of the summer game. It’s tough, though. His French colleagues struggle with it while the network remains indifferent. And when they decide to end their coverage, his world collapses in spectacular fashion. It is then that he takes on the role of cricket missionary.
Vive le Cricket! is a one-man show, part comic monologue, part cultural expedition, which mixes storytelling, commentary and digressive reflections on sport, identity and the strange ways national pastimes travel - or fail to travel - across borders.
Vive le Cricket! has been created by NG Bristow and Barney Spender who takes on the role of Rex, drawing on his own decades of experience as… a cricket commentator.
Note: There is some mild bad language but nothing you wouldn't hear before the watershed.
