Make a Difference This Tax Season!
United Way of Hunterdon County is looking for volunteers to join our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) team for the upcoming tax season!
VITA provides free tax preparation services to eligible individuals and families in our community. Volunteers play an important role in helping Hunterdon County residents file their taxes safely and accurately while keeping more of their hard-earned money.
No Tax Experience? No Problem!
You don't have to be a tax expert to volunteer with VITA. Training, support, and IRS certification are provided, and there are different roles to match your skills and interests.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Tax Preparers – Prepare tax returns using IRS-approved software. Training and certification are provided.
Front Desk Facilitators – Welcome clients, assist with check-in and paperwork, and help keep our VITA sites running smoothly.
Spanish-Speaking Translators – Help Spanish-speaking clients communicate with our VITA team and feel comfortable throughout the process.

• What it's really like to volunteer during tax season
• The different volunteer roles available
• Training and IRS certification requirements
• Volunteer schedules and time commitments
• Opportunities in Flemington, Clinton, Lambertville, and Milford
• The step-by-step process for becoming a VITA volunteer
We're working to offer more flexible ways to volunteer, including opportunities for volunteers who can commit to one consistent night per week.
Attending an Open House does not commit you to volunteering. Come learn about the program, ask questions, meet the team, and see if VITA is a good fit for you!
