Registration is required for this free program. https://calendar.lancasterlibraries.org/event/homeschool-stemhistory-mystery-morning-84997 ; or call us 717-653-1510James Buckner, a descendant of Mayflower passenger John Howland, will be at Milanof-Schock Library in Mount Joy on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:30am. Buckner will be dressed in period clothing and will educate participants as to how his 11th great grandfather Howland came to America from England as a Mayflower passenger. He will talk about what their first years in this country were like, and a variety of period props will be available. A Q&A session will be offered at the end of the program. The Library invites people of all ages to this free program, however it may not be enjoyable for children under 5.
Buckner is a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, as well as the Society of Mayflower Descendants in Pennsylvania. He was born in New England and can trace his lineage back through this mother’s side to his ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower in 1620. The importance of Reenactment, to Buckner, is to preserve the memory of our Pilgrim ancestors and their contributions to this country, to correct the myths and misconceptions concerning the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving, and to bring life to the history of the Pilgrims in a tangible way.
