About this Event
Please join PERA resident and Museum volunteer Anne Perng at 11am as she takes us on a short guided tour of the Museum of East Asian Art. As this year is Jane Austen 250, Anne will connect the Museum’s collection with the life of Jane Austen (1775-1817) and her Regency world.
Discover how Asian art and culture shaped daily life in Georgian Britain, from tea rituals to porcelain prestige, in this unique tour that connects Bath to East Asia. Explore exquisite Chinese teacups, blue-and-white porcelain, and the surprising global influences in Jane’s world.
After this short tour, you can walk through the In Bloom exhibition, with display of floral-themed objects from the Museum’s collection, shown alongside the work of contemporary artists and makers in Autumnal colours. Finally, some pre-Christmas retail therapy in the Museum shop for carefully curated gifts with Asian themes.
If you have never been to the MEAA before, this is a great opportunity to visit this hidden gem. If you have visited, this is a chance to learn more about the collection through the lens of Regency England.
We will meet at Cafe Lucca from 10am (optional, pay what you order), and proceed to the Museum for the start of the tour at 11am.
