About this Event
Visit to Old Bailey
I am delighted to invite some of your students with a teacher to join us for the next Hounslow’s Promise Masterclasses in March. These events are designed to give an opportunity for an extended immersion with senior leaders and their teams in different workplace environments, with a behind the scenes understanding of what happens, what the jobs are, the journey from being a student into the profession, and with the opportunity to ask questions in a question time format of senior leaders. Previous events have included a masterclass with senior journalists and a visit to the London Stock Exchange. The Masterclasses are designed to help deliver on our three strategic goals of supporting educational attainment, employability and social mobility.
We are thrilled to extend an invitation to your students for an exciting educational trip to the historic Old Bailey where we will be hosted by High Court Judge Anuja Dhir KC along with Seema Malhotra MP, Chair of Hounslow’s Promise. This visit is designed to provide an opportunity to apply learning about how the justice system works, see first-hand the work of a Judge, understand how different parts of the justice system work together, and have a unique opportunity with a behind the scenes tour to delve into the workings of the justice system and hear about different roles and careers in the Courts system.
Some light pre-reading and background to the Old Bailey and briefing for the visit will be sent in week commencing 24th February.
Event Details:
Dates: Thursday, 6th March from 8.30am to 11am
Draft Schedule:
- 8:30 AM: Arrival at the Old Bailey with refreshments and a comfort break. (we may consider arranging a coach to take all the participants together or to travel by public transport as a group)
- 9:00 AM: Welcome and Q&A session, where students can engage with legal and court professionals and ask questions.
- 9:30 AM: Guided tour of the Old Bailey.
- 10:00 AM: Courtroom experience, allowing students to sit in on a live court session.
- 10:30 AM: Wrap-up, reflections, group photograph and departure by 11:00 AM.
This immersive experience promises to be both informative and engaging, providing invaluable insights into the justice system. We believe it will be a memorable and inspiring day for students whether or not considering a career in Law, but may be of particularly interest to those interested in a job in the justice system.
We look forward to welcoming your students to the Old Bailey. Should you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact Prabhat at [email protected]. Due to the demand we are restricting tickets to 3 students and a staff member to accompany them.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity!
*Please note that once all available spaces are filled, a waitlist will be created. If any spots become available, waitlist members will be notified in the order of their registration. We encourage you to join the waitlist if the event is fully booked, as there may be opportunities to attend.
