Explore nature at the CREA Ecology Center located within the Cathance River Nature Preserve open every Sunday from 12-2 PM (weather permitting). Perfect for families nature lovers and curious minds the Center offers engaging activities and displays that highlight the natural beauty and local ecology of Maine.
What to Expect:
View native Maine mammals birds and a fascinating collection of minerals and rocks.
Browse our extensive library of nature books and field guides for all ages.
Enjoy fun hands-on activities for kids to take home for more outdoor adventures.
Borrow snowshoes in winter (youth and adult sizes available) for a peaceful trek on the trails.
Chat with friendly volunteers who can offer trail maps hiking suggestions and answer your questions.
Sustainability Features: Learn about CREA’s off-grid eco-friendly design including solar panels a wind turbine and sustainable building materials.
Location: Parking is available on Evergreen Circle Highland Green. Follow the signs and take a short walk to reach the Ecology Center. Please note: There is no parking at the Center itself.
