Visible Racine, a community photography project, is seeking the participation of disabled individuals to be photographed.
The event is hosted by the 21st ArtRoot Writer-in-Residence, Emma Widmar and The Inclusive Bean.
Emma is a disabled writer and artist. The Inclusive Bean is a local nonprofit coffee shop that provides work opportunities to those with disabilities. Emma’s residency takes place at the local coffee shop.
Visible Racine invites anyone who self-identifies as disabled to join at The Inclusive Bean, 1930 Albert St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 19, 2026 to have their portrait taken by Emma. In addition to the photos taken, participants will be asked to write a small biography about themselves to accompany the photo.
Photos taken at the event will be put on display at The Inclusive Bean as a part of an ongoing gallery.
Together, Racine can define who it is.
