A free hands-on workshop exploring garment repair, visible mending, and textile art through sashiko-inspired stitching techniques.
About this Event

Join us for a free community workshop exploring visible mending, garment repair, and creative textile practices.

Participants will learn foundational hand-stitching techniques inspired by sashiko while creating a unique textile piece using cotton canvas and reclaimed fabrics.

Through repair, layering, and decorative stitching, we'll explore how clothing and textiles can be repaired, reimagined, and given new life.

No prior sewing experience is necessary.

All tools and materials will be provided.

This workshop is designed for beginners and anyone interested in sustainability, creativity, fashion, textiles, or learning a new skill.

Participants will leave with:

  • foundational visible mending skills
  • introductory sashiko stitching techniques
  • a textile project
  • resources for continuing their practice

Space is limited and advance registration is required.

While attendance is free, supporters may choose to sponsor future participants through optional pay-it-forward contributions. These contributions help sustain future workshops and expand access to community-centered textile education.
