About this Event
Have you ever wanted to learn how to mend your clothes and give your wardrobe a second lease of life?
Join Fernweh founder Laura in this hands-on workshop exploring the art of visible mending, a creative and increasingly popular way to repair and personalise your clothing.
You’ll learn a range of techniques to visibly mend garments, adding uniqueness and character while extending the life of your wardrobe. With just a needle, thread, and a bit of creativity, you’ll discover how to use colourful patches and decorative stitching to cover holes and make your clothes stand out.
As well as building practical skills, this workshop is a great way to explore a more sustainable approach to fashion and express your personal style.
Techniques covered:
- Sewing a patch
- Using patches creatively to express your style
- Running stitch
- Blanket stitch
- Whip stitch
You’ll create sampler pieces during the session, allowing you to practise and take these techniques away to use on your own clothes.
Please note: Due to the length of the workshop, we won’t be repairing actual garments on the day. However, you’re very welcome to ask questions about your own mending projects.
All materials are provided. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their sewing skills.
