Join artist Maja Zećo for a performance as part of ‘The Attuning Zone’ exhibition at Peacock & the worm. The performance explores the potential of sonic amplification in the context of the ‘Energy Transition Zone’, St Fittick’s Park, Aberdeen.
Equipped with a wearable parabolic microphone and speaker, dressed in heavy boots and a bespoke neoprene suit, Maja will navigate the pathways of St Fittick’s Park, amplifying distant sound within and beyond the park, inviting audiences to tune in with her. The performance will begin beside the basketball courts, please see our access notes below for further information.
‘The Attuning Zone’ is an exhibition of work by Maja Zećo exploring how people experience the sounds, textures and atmospheres of energy transition. The exhibition includes work in performance, sound and video as well as print and ephemera.
‘The Attuning Zone’ opens on Friday 1 May 6-8pm and continues from Saturday 2 May – Saturday 4 July. More information is available here
Maja Zećo (bio)
Maja Zećo is a practice-based artist researcher exploring identities and listening in spaces of socio-political tensions and post-conflict areas. Her sound and performance pieces have been presented internationally, and her writing was published in Organised Sound (Cambridge University Press) and Journal of Sonic Studies (Leiden University Press).
Access:
-Audiences are welcome to join for part or all of the performance
-The performance will begin beside the basketball courts in St Fittick’s Park. The basketball courts are located on the side of the park closest to Balnaghask Circle, opposite the harbour. Please see our map below.
-We will use existing pathways in the park for the performance. These paths are accessible.
-This is an outdoor event, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing
-Staff from Peacock will be available during the event for health and safety and any support requirements.
-There are no bathroom facilities available at St Fittick’s Park.
-Young people under 16 should be accompanied by an adult
Travel by bus:
From the city centre take the number 15 bus, alight at Balnagask Avenue stop on Balnagask Circle. St Fittick’s park is a 5-minute walk, on the right-hand side. For timetables click

Travel by car:
Parking is available on the roads surrounding the park. The closest parking available is on Balnagask Circle and Balnagask Road.
