About this Event
The term "village prenatal" was coined by elder midwife, Sister Morningstar, who aimed to make birth + motherhood a community event again. Her philosophy uplifts every expectant mother as an emination of the Holy Mother, giving sacred life to the future, deserving only the best by those around her.
As a devotee of the Holy Mother, I hold this philosophy close to my heart & carry this deep into the wellspring of my own village prenatals. During these circles, we gather around the expectant mothers to hold her in creating her dream birth, giving her space to address her fears without trying to fix them for her, & remind her that she has a community who love + adore her. Positive birth stories are shared to reinforce the actualization of a dream birth. In circle, we utilize sound medicine, prayer, & guided meditation to bring us into our hearts. We take time for questions regarding birth, pregnancy, postpartum, or the adjacent experience. Finally, we make sure she's nourished in Mind, Body, & Soul.
~~~~~ Frequently Asked Questions ~~~~~
Do I need to be pregnant to join a village prenatal?
Absolutely not! In fact, we encourage women in all their stages to join this circle. While we do center pregnancy, we need the support + companionship of maidens, mothers, & crones to uplift this space & provide sisterhood.
Can children attend?
Babies in arms are welcome, please find care for bigger children.
Can I come late?
In short, no, please be on time or as close as you can be. Our time together is a ceremonial space designed to bring us into an energetic container. If you cannot arrive within 15 minutes of our starting time or need to leave early, please catch the next circle.
